Gold Coast project planning
Find the guide for your Gold Coast site
A cutting job starts with its location in the building and on the street. A driveway opening, a penetration above an occupied room and a floor inside a trading business need different arrangements. These guides explain the local checks alongside the concrete work so you can bring useful information to the first conversation.
Start with Labrador for Broadwater frontage and shared access, Southport for CBD development and building coordination, or Ashmore for houses and shared residential sites. Each guide links the relevant services and nearby locations. For an address elsewhere on the Gold Coast, contact Sirius with the actual site details.

Which cutting method fits the work?

Tell the team what you need to achieve rather than choosing a machine from a photograph. Floor sawing is assessed for straight cuts in horizontal concrete; core drilling creates round penetrations for services. Wall sawing, wire sawing, hand sawing, ring sawing, dragon sawing and concrete chainsaw cutting provide other approaches where orientation, depth, access or corners change the task.
The Gold Coast concrete cutting page explains the wider service. Scanning and concrete X-ray are separate investigations to discuss when information about the structure is needed. A scan contributes to planning; it does not itself authorise cutting or prove every embedded item has been found.

Planning across different Gold Coast properties
Do not assume that every Gold Coast slab has the same reinforcement, age or condition. Provide drawings where they exist, describe any previous alterations and identify whether work is on ground level, a suspended slab or a wall. For an opening that changes a structural element, have the relevant designer confirm the detail before the cutting is set out.
Street frontage also changes the preparation. The City's vehicle crossing guidance distinguishes standard crossings needing a local law licence from non-standard crossings requiring assessment. Ask Council which route applies before modifying the public crossing. Keep the private driveway, public verge and any proposed work zone clearly distinguished in the enquiry.
Southport has an additional location-specific check: land inside its Priority Development Area uses the applicable PDA scheme. Being in the suburb alone does not establish that a property falls inside that boundary. The Southport guide shows where to begin checking.

More than cutting and drilling
For existing floors, Sirius also offers concrete grinding, scabbling, epoxy flooring and flake flooring. Explain the intended next finish and any coating already on the surface. A surface photograph cannot establish the full preparation requirement; information about levels, contamination and the substrate helps make the discussion specific.
Other listed services include robotic demolition, joint sealing, concrete tactiles, bollards, HEPA vacs, road sweeping and soft cut sawing. The service catalogue is the place to compare them. Share whether the request is a single task or one part of a staged project so the interfaces with other trades can be discussed.

How much does concrete cutting cost per metre?
Length is only one part of a cutting quote. Material, thickness, reinforcement, equipment access and the destination of the separated concrete can change the scope. Identify whether you require cutting only, breakout, removal or coordination with another contractor. Include the work level and any restrictions on loading or lifting.
For travel from Logan Village, agree the site and access arrangements directly with Sirius. A suburb name does not establish a fixed arrival time or call-out amount. Include delivery windows, booking requirements and the on-site contact before requesting a date.

Prepare an enquiry that can move forward
Take a wide photograph showing the approach and a closer one showing the proposed work. Add a sketch with cut lines, hole positions or floor areas marked. Note water and power arrangements, nearby drains, the route for equipment and whether anyone occupies the space below or beside the work.
Ask who will manage isolation, pedestrian separation and waste collection. Wet cutting produces slurry that needs collection and cleanup; plan it before equipment arrives. The existing guide to bollards in existing concrete also explains why an opening and a designed foundation are different decisions.

Confirm lift bookings, building permissions and the required next finish before arranging the work.

Common questions
Gold Coast answers
01How much does a concrete cutter charge?
Sirius needs the dimensions, concrete details, access and removal scope to discuss a project-specific quote. Request a quote for the whole task rather than assuming a rate from length alone.
02How thick of concrete can a concrete saw cut?
The suitable machine and cutting sequence depend on the actual material, thickness, orientation and access. Send the slab or wall information so Sirius can assess the approach.
Discuss your concrete project
Send the details. Start the conversation.
Tell Sirius the site address, the work you need and any access limits. Include the approximate dimensions if you have them.

Planning work in Pimpama or Coomera?
For local access and preparation information, visit Pimpama concrete services or Coomera concrete services. Each guide explains what to send with an enquiry and links to the relevant services.
If your project needs a slab opening or driveway cut, read the Pimpama cutting guide or Coomera cutting guide before requesting a quote.
Bollards on the Gold Coast
Planning bollard installation in existing concrete?
Start with the proposed positions and the purpose: controlling vehicle access, separating movement paths or meeting a specified protection requirement. The Sirius bollard installation guide explains surface-mounted and in-ground fixing arrangements, slab information and the details that affect an installed quote.
For a shared driveway or car park, identify who can approve the work and how people will move through the area during installation. Send marked photos, quantities and available product drawings with your Gold Coast project enquiry.
